When you run a business, there is so much that you have to think about on a daily basis. You have to make sure that your products and services are top-notch. You have to seek ways to improve customer loyalty. You have to work to keep your staff happy and productive. With all that’s on your plate, you certainly cannot do it all. Some things, you simply need to delegate.
If you’d like to know some of the things that all business owners should hand over, here are a list of five tasks. Ones that, after delegating them out, you can get a lot more done by the end of each work week.
Checking voicemails and responding to emails. Something that all businesses have are lots of voicemails and emails. In fact, there was a recent study which indicated that many business owners have a tendency to spend as much as 30-40 percent of their time each week on email alone. That’s a lot of hours that you could use working on other pressing matters. So, definitely have someone check your phone messages and reply to general email inquiries.
Website and social media maintenance. In order for a company to be successful, it needs to have a strong presence in cyberspace. This would include having a website and also social media accounts like a Facebook fan page along with a Twitter, Linked In, Instagram and even Pinterest account. In order to encourage online interaction, it’s a good idea to post questions and do occasional giveaways. Just make sure that you delegate someone to handle these things. This is something else that can easily eat up your time.
Distribution of products. If your business provides a product that ships out all over the country (or even the world), you’re going to need to have someone or a team to do the packaging and sending. In fact, if your product is in high demand, this could be a department all unto itself. You don’t want to worry about if your customers are receiving their orders in a timely fashion. So, definitely make sure to assign this task to people who are professional, knowledgeable and reliable too.
Running errands. If you were to ask someone who works at a company about how to delegate tasks at work, something that they might tell you is that you should think about all of the things that need to get done that don’t require your assistance. There’s a pretty good chance that one of them would be running errands. Just think, while someone who works for you is out picking up letterhead or items for an upcoming business party, you can be having meetings with clients who can ultimately bring in more revenue.
Cleaning the office. A productive office is a clean one. Therefore, you need to make sure that you remove clutter from desks, vacuum and clean the bathroom and break room each evening. However, that doesn’t mean that you have to be the one to do it. By hiring a part-time cleaning service, you can be confident that your office will be kept in good shape. Plus, it can make it easier for you to leave at a reasonable hour at the end of each business day.
