How The Courier Industry is Working to Help Veterans this Christmas

Servicemen and women provide a vital service to our country and put their lives on the line to protect us all. Many are left with both physical and mental scars that make adjusting back to civilian life difficult. That’s why charities for veterans are essential in making sure they are both recognised for their services and are supported through the challenges they face. This December, courier firm Yodel is taking part in Walking with the Wounded campaign to help raise funds for the veteran community.

Raising Funds for Veterans

There is absolutely no doubt as to the need to provide support to our veterans, and this year, firms and individuals from all over the country, including those offering services as a same day courier Liverpool and elsewhere are ‘Walking Home for Christmas’. Not only does the camping raise vital funds, but offers people a chance to enjoy some fresh air, exercise and beat the winter blues. As we all know, regular walking can help prevent a host of health conditions, as explained by The British Heart Foundation.

Joining the Walking Home for Christmas Campaign

It is free to take part in the Walking Home for Christmas Campaign, however, registrants need to raise a minimum of £5. The charity provides a free Santa hat for those supporting the event. The courier industry has long been recognised for its corporate social responsibility initiatives with Liverpool same day courier firms and those nationwide participating in a wide range of charitable endeavours.

In the last ten years, Walking with the Wounded has raised around two million pounds to help support veterans and their families. It is heartening to see such solidarity with those who have made enormous sacrifices to serve our country.
